Pantera-The Early Glam Years

Postby clayelder » Fri Dec 28, 2007 1:43 am

This thread is for die-hard Pantera fans. Most people aren't aware that they had 4 albums BEFORE their 1st major label release-Cowboys From Hell-...back in the 80's...that were ONLY available to their fans in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Now I've been in Missouri since 1999,but from the year I was born (1971) up untill then,I lived in Irving (Dallas County),TX. - and not only was I a Pantera fan-I actually grew up with them. They lived 10 minutes away from me in Pantego (It's actually a VERY small suburb of Arlington),TX. ...so they'll always have a place in my heart (R.I.P. Darryl). Here's one of the FEW places that you'll find them 4 albums...NOW on Digitally-Remastered CD!!

NOW.......the rest of this thread is for the "ABSOLUTE most DIE-HARD (or HAIRED...LOL!) of you Pantera fans.

There are some bootleg CD's available.....and man-I mean these sucka's are as rare as they get-& you won't see them posted on here for free. What I am going to do is post the names of them...along with some CD artwork & even some song samples from the CD's. Then,if anyone is interested, send me a PM and we'll go from there. Well, here we go:

Bootleg #1:
I Am The Night / Projects In The Jungle:

Location / Date: Studio recordings of earlier albums 1984-1985

Label : Reborn Classics-Released In 1992...RC1010

Time: Unknown

The front cover features the album cover of Pantera's "I Am The
Night" CD. The back cover features a picture of the early Pantera
logo and has track listings for both "Projects In The Jungle" and
"I Am The Night". This disc has a high rating due to the inclusion of 2
albums and the fact that the transfer from LP is great. This kicks ass.
Check out Diamond/Dimebag Darryl's instrumental "Blue Light Turnin Red".

Tracks:
All Over Tonite
Out For Blood
Blue Light Turnin Red
Like Fire
In Over My Head
Projects In The Jungle
Heavy Metal Rules
Only A Heartbeat Away
Killers (Iron Maiden Cover)
Takin' My Life
Hot And Heavy
I Am The Night
Onward We Rock
D*G*T*T*M
Daughters Of The Queen
Down Below
Come- On Eyes
Right On The Edge
Valhalla
Forever Tonite
(Track Times Unknown)

Bootleg #2:
I Am The Night (Alternate):

Location/Date: I Am The Night Studio Release 1985

Label: Unknown Label - Released 1993 - PA-02

Time: Approx. 40 minutes

Comments: This disc is features one of Pantera's early attempts when they were still a bit glam, although there are some great tracks on this album. Front cover of this release features original LP artwork and back
features old Pantera logo, track listing in red,and a small photo of
the LP insert. Based upon the look of the disc,I believe this was
pressed in Japan.

Tracks:
Hot And Heavy
I Am The Night
Onward We Rock
D*G*T*T*M
Daughters Of The Queen
Down Below
Come-on Eyes
Right On The Edge
Valhalla
Forever Tonite
(Track Times Unknown)

Bootleg #3: (Now they REALLY start getting good!)
All Over Tonight

Location/Date:Fort Worth,Texas & Unknown-December 31,1986

Time:73:17

Comments:From what may have been Terrence Lee's last show - New Year's eve 1986. The last 3 songs were from the Hot and Heavy Home
Video. Sound can be rough, but the rarity of this material makes
it rate highly.

Tracks:
1) Projects In The Jungle 3:47
2) Heavy Metal Rules 4:46
3) All Over Tonight 0:40
4) Guitar Solo 7:53
5) Dazed and Confused (Led Zeppelin Cover) 1:09

Bootleg #4:
Rock the World
CD Front Cover:

CD Back Cover:

CD Image:

Time: 76:27

Comments: This must have been shortly after Phil joined Pantera. Some great rare songs!! Dime sings on PST88. Sadly, this is ANOTHER flawed show from the same guy that mastered the Metal Gods '89 show. There are
ticks between each track. The sound on this is rough, but it gets a high rating for being ULTRA rare.

Tracks:
1) Deathtrap 3:55
2) Rock the World 3:53
3) Hot and Heavy 9:04
4) Power Metal 4:40
5) We’ll Meet Again 6:10
6) Hard Ride 5:53
7) P.S.T. ’88 4:09
8) Right on the Edge 4:28
9) Guitar solo 8:30
10) I Don’t Know 1:13
11) Goodbye to Romance (Ozzy Cover) 1:38
12) Guitar solo 2:04
13) Proud to be Loud 7:11
14) Over and Out 7:17
15) No Remorse (Metallica Cover) 6:21
